The Multicultural Student Services Team (MSS)

Multicultural Student Services supports program and activities specific to underrepresented and marginalized groups, however, we recognize that everyone has a culture and needs support. While we promote diversity, we also help individuals find what they have in common that isn’t always apparent. Our goal is to build strong relationships across cultures and other differences.

We also work to create welcoming environments for students, faculty, staff, and community partners; thus our commitment is not only to a diverse setting, but one that is inclusive and values everyone. In addition to supporting students, we provide community and serve as a resource for diverse faculty (which helps in retention), staff, and others wanting to enhance their competency and knowledge about cultural differences. We aim to be inclusive by initiating and convening events on and off campus to illuminate Chemeketa Community College commitment to effectively serving everyone.

The development of multicultural and intercultural opportunities which provide an academic, social, and emotional support to underrepresented and marginalized students so they feel a sense of belonging at Chemeketa.

Our young must be taught that racial peculiarities do exist, but that beneath the skin, beyond the different features and into the true heart of being, fundamentally, we are more alike, my friend, than we are unlike.
