Dr. James Mason is the Executive Director Culturally Competent Care Giving for the Providence Health & Services, Oregon Region.  He is the former Director of Multicultural Health for the State of Oregon, and has worked in higher education as an administrator, researcher, and educator since 1977.  Dr. Mason has spoken at colleges, universities, and health and human service bureaucracies in the United States, Latin America, and Canada applying cultural competence to a variety of service disciplines including: education, higher education, public health, mental health, child welfare, maternal and child health, and alcohol and drug treatment.  Dr. Mason has four children and has lived and worked in Portland, Oregon since 1975.
