The Textbook Lending Library is a service to students as an incentive for students to be successful in their classes. Textbooks may be checked out at no cost for an entire term starting the first day of class on a first-come-first-serve basis, and must be returned prior to the end of the term.
Due to the success and the high demand of our program and in efforts to promote student success, priority will be given the beginning two weeks of the term to students with a 2.75 term GPA or higher for their last term completed, and must have a current Education Plan signed by their advisor or counselor. After two weeks, students can check out books without previous screening of requirements.
All books are housed at the Chemeketa Library in the Salem campus. Students who want to access this service need to first be screened by the department of Student Retention and College Life staff for the beginning two weeks of the term. The requirements to access the Textbook Lending Library are found below. After the second week of the term, students can go directly to the library for books.
Students can only check out required textbooks for classes that are in their Education Plan and are currently registered for. You can only check out textbooks for one class per day.
To check for the availability of books, students can check the Chemeketa Library's website prior to accessing the service by following a tutorial.
First term students are students who have never taken classes at Chemeketa or who have taken more than a two year break. An Education Plan is not required for first term students, but it will be required for the second term and after. The following are requirements for first term students to access the service.
