Parking Spaces for the Disabled

We have reserved some places for you.

Only vehicles properly displaying a valid placard issued by a State Motor Vehicles Division, may park in a space designated by signs and/or markings as Reserved for Disabled Parking.

Parking in a van accessible safety zone adjacent to a disabled parking space is prohibited.

Citations may be issued at any time for violation of disabled parking regulations, and may be issued on a college–approved citation or a citation subject to adjudication by a local or state court.

"Provisional" Disabled Parking Spaces

You may have noticed some new signage for disabled parking spaces in the Blue Parking lot. Due to the increased request for disabled parking, Chemeketa added "Provisional" disabled parking spaces. The provisional signage is necessary as those spaces were not originally designed to be disabled spaces. Disabled parking spaces require "safety zones", usually a hashmark design painted in between or on either side of a disabled parking space. This area is for loading and unloading of the disabled especially those who use mobility devices or wheelchair/motorized devices designed for the mobility of the disabled. Since the new parking spaces in the Blue Parking Lot are not striped as safety zones, Chemeketa was required to put up the "provisional" signage.

This does not change the Oregon State Law requiring a valid State Disabled Placard to park in a disabled parking space. Any valid State disabled placard is useable on campus.
