It is the policy of Chemeketa Community College that discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, age, disability, or family relationships will not exist in any area, activity, or operation of the college as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Age Discrimination Act; The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; Oregon Civil Rights Law (ORS 659); and their implementing regulations.
College policy also prohibits harassment on the basis of any of the factors listed above. Harassment is any unwelcome behavior or display, verbal, physical, or visual in nature, which meets any of these criteria:
- Submission to such condition is either an implicit or explicit condition of employment or academic performance
- Submission to or rejection of the condition by an employee or student is used as the basis for decisions affecting that person's employment or academic performance
- The condition has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's work performance or academic performance or of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment or academic environment
