College 101 Workshops

College 101 workshops are our ongoing workshops that address financial aid, scholarship, and general questions about getting started as a new student at Chemeketa Community College.  The workshop is mandatory for new students, but all potential students and parents of students are encouraged to attend.  The focus is on arranging the financial support students need to succeed through scholarships, grants and loans and how to access them.  Call the McMinnville office for more information at 503.472.9482.

Career Information

In-Person Solutions:  The McMinnville campus offers career information and counseling open to all students. Our advisors can help students explore different careers and decide on an appropriate degree program using the University of Oregon's Career Information Service (CIS).  If you are interested in this service or you need help deciding on a degree program or major, please call the office to set up an appointment for our Career Workshop, usually every other Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Online Solutions:  Students can log in to My Chemeketa and click on ePathways to create a term-by-term education plan, explore different careers, access resources and support at Chemeketa and within the community, and even upload your important school documents and career-related documents.

Placement Tests

If you are new to Chemeketa or returning after a long break, it is highly recommended that you take a placement test to assess where you are academically. There is no charge for taking your first placement test if you plan to take classes at Chemeketa, otherwise there is a $20 charge for the service, and a $15 charge for a re-test.  You must register with us and have a student number to make an appointment for the test by calling the office at 503.472.9482. Testing is available on a regular basis and takes about 2 hours. Please bring a photo I.D. and arrive a few minutes before the test is due to begin.

For more information on placement test (eCompass) preparation, please see http://www.chemeketa.edu/services/counseling/testing/tips.html
