Cancellation and Refund Policy
The following is the cancellation and refund policy that applies to onlineEd's Oregon Pre-License course:
- You may cancel enrollment by giving e-mail notice to info@realestate, with CANCELLATION in the subject line, within five-business days after the date of enrollment. If cancellation occurs during that five-day period, all monies paid to onlineEd by the student shall be refunded.
- If cancellation occurs after five business days, the following schedules of maximum charges may be assessed by onlineEd:
- If termination occurs in the period between the delivery of lesson materials and receipt by the school of the first completed lesson materials, Chemeketa Community College may charge an amount equal to 15 percent of the total tuition cost, or $150, whichever is less. This sum shall represent Chemeketa’s stated course enrollment fee.
- If termination occurs after receipt by Chemeketa of the first completed chapter review exercise and up to 50-percent of the completed lesson assignments, the student shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the total tuition cost of the distance learning portion of the program. This refund calculation shall be based upon dividing the total number of chapters the student has completed by the total number of course chapters not completed by the student. Chemeketa may also retain the established enrollment fee.
- If termination occurs after receipt by Chemeketa of 50 percent or more of the completed lesson assignments Chemeketa may retain 100 percent of the total tuition costs plus the established registration fee.
- No refunds will be given after 120 calendar days from registration.
How to Obtain a Real Estate Broker License in Oregon
Any person wishing to conduct professional real estate activity in Oregon must obtain a real estate license from the Oregon Real Estate Agency. The Real Estate Agency is the government agency responsible for licensing and the regulation of real estate and property management professionals. A person who performs professional real estate activities in Oregon without a license may be subject to substantial criminal and civil penalties.
The application process has four parts:
- Background check, which could take from two-to-three months to complete
- Competence in real estate subjects by courses of study
- License examination
- License application
Original course completion certificates from Chemeketa that verify completion of courses must be submitted before a license may be issued.

Completing the Competency Requirements in Real Estate Course of Study
Chemeketa's online pre-license course will satisfy the agency's competency requirement. The course has been approved by the Oregon Real Estate Agency and the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO).
The Course
As a part of its pre-license requirements Oregon requires the completion of the study and mastery of seven topics. These seven topics are organized as follows. You may click on a course topic to view the course topic syllabus.

Each module is divided into chapters. At the end of each chapter review exercises will test the student's comprehension of the chapter material. At the end of each module a final examination is required. Successful passage of the final examination requires a score of 75% or better.
Course Instructors
Upon registering for the pre-license course the student will be assigned a primary instructor. This instructor will assist the student with regard to any questions regarding course content or course navigation. If your primary instructor is not available, another instructor may assist.
Price
Individual course modules are priced at $100. When the seven modules are purchased as one package, the price is $500. The $500 package represents an enrollment fee of $65 and tuition of $435. Each individual module pricing represents an enrollment fee of $15 and tuition of $85.
Equipment Required
This course is presented via the internet. In order to be able to access and complete the course the student will need the following equipment:
- A computer that is MicroSoft® compatible.
- Internet access, which may be a dial up account, DSL or a cable internet connection. The speed of material delivery will depend upon the type of internet connection in use by the student.
- An internet browser. The course was designed to work best with MicroSoft® Internet Explorer.
All of the course material may be read online. However, it is recommended that the student print the course material and then file it in a three-ring binder. This will allow for use of the course material for future reference material and, in many cases, make review of the material prior to taking the state examination much easier. In order to print the materials the student should have:
- A printer compatible with the computer being used
- 2 ea - reams of printer paper
- 1 ea - 3 1/2 inch 3-ring binder notebook
- 7 ea - Chapter divider tabs
Faculty Contact and Student Support
Each student will be assigned a course instructor at the time of course enrollment. The student is encouraged to contact the instructor whenever the student feels that contact with the instructor will be helpful with regard to course content or course procedures and requirements. Completion and Assignment Timelines
This Oregon Pre-License Course may be completed by the student at the student's own pace. The course is not time-monitored. Each module is designed to take the amount of time that is assigned to it for completion. For example, Module 1, Agency, is designed to take the student 15 hours to complete. The time will be spent on reading the course text materials, studying the text materials to ensure concept understanding, completion of the course exercise sets, review of support material, taking the state practice exam questions relating to the module and successful passage of the module final examination. Some students, depending on their education and prior experience, may complete the course in less than the time allocated, while others may complete the materials in more time than is allocated. Successful completion of the course is competency-based. Passage is not based upon actual hours. Again, the onlineEd Method is approved by the Oregon Real Estate Agency and ARELLO. There is no required progress with respect to proceeding with the course materials that is required of any student. Each student is solely responsible for their course progress.
Deadlines
The student has 365 calendar days from the time of initial course registration to complete the course material and pass the seven module final examinations. At the end of the 365 calendar days, the student will be denied further access to the course materials. If the student desires to proceed with the course after access has been denied, the student will be required to re-register and pay for any modules not completed.
Course Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for taking the onlineEd Oregon Pre-License Course. However, the Oregon Real Estate Agency does have requirements to sit for the state real estate license examination. This course is only one of those requirements. It is the student's responsibility to contact the Oregon Real Estate Agency, Licensing Division to determine whether the student will be eligible to sit for the Oregon real estate broker's examination. Completion of this course will not in-and-of-itself permit the student to sit for the state real estate license examination. We cannot be responsible for the student's failure to investigate or meet the requirements of the Oregon Real Estate Agency. The contact number at the Oregon Real Estate Agency is 503-378-4170.
