Office of
Grant Development

Welcome to Chemeketa's Office of Grant Development

The Office of Grant Development serves the Chemeketa community by helping to secure external funding that helps Chemeketa provide opportunities for adult literacy, open the door to all levels of college, and create centers of excellence in technical training, workforce development, and business support.

Grant Development Services

The grant development process encompasses everything that happens before a grant or contract begins. Chemeketa's Office of Grant Development is here to help program directors, staff, and faculty through the process:

  • by searching for funding and keeping the Chemeketa community abreast of funding alerts
  • by offering workshops and other information about grantwriting
  • by helping you read and understand funding guidelines
  • by facilitating partnerships between funders, community partners, and the college administration to develop a competitive grant proposal
  • by helping you develop realistic budgets in keeping with your project's needs and with college and federal guidelines
  • by helping with proposal development, feedback, and editing
  • by helping you complete forms and submit proposals electronically or by mail
  • by negotiating budget modifications and contract amendments
  • by helping with electronic research administration and reporting
  • by working with Business Services to develop budgets and ensure compliance with grant or contract requirements.

Economic Recovery Grants

The American Recovery and Investment Act, a $787 billion economic stimulus bill passed by Congress, will result in millions of dollars in competitive grants distributed by federal agencies through existing grant programs. Information about the granting process and each agency's approach to distributing recovery dollars can be found on grants.gov and recovery.gov.

By the end of March 2009, each agency is required to post a notice describing how its grantmaking criteria for recovery grants on grants.gov. Most recovery grants will be due in May, with fund awarded in July. Notices and proposals packages can be found at grants.gov (Click on "Recovery Grant Opportunities" in the grey box).

Please note that grants are available to non-profit agencies, government entities, tribes, and institutions of higher education. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

Chemeketa staff interested in recovery grants should contact Diane or Bart in the Office of Grants Development.

Please contact Diane Schmitz or Bart Boyer to discuss your ideas, schedule a meeting or workshop, or learn more about grants and contract funding. The Grants Office is in Building 2, room 225, and can be reached at 503.399.6031.
