Multicultural
Development Office
Major roles and responsibilities of the Multicultural Development Office include:
- Advise the President and Executive Team regarding systems and strategies for building, promoting, and maintaining an inclusive and diverse college environment.
- Provide strong and creative leadership for campus-wide alignment with the college's diversity action plan.
- Build and support partnerships and develop strategic support for college-wide diversity goals.
- Provide leadership to the campus community and surrounding communities with multicultural issues and the recruitment and retention of underrepresented populations.
- Develop and implement district-wide awareness and competency training in the areas of cultural and gender diversity, sexual discrimination and harassment, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination.
- Provide strong support and leadership to the college's efforts to develop and maintain an educational and work environment which respects and values individual differences.
- Work collaboratively to assist in creating and promoting a consistently welcoming, supportive, and inclusive climate for all students, employees, and visitors.
- Represent the college to the public, private, local, state, regional, and national organizations, agencies, and constituencies, and boards of education members on matters of diversity and multiculturalism.
- Serve as multicultural and diversity resource to faculty, staff, students, community, and professional associations and college committees.
