Basic Skills Development (BSD)

The BSD program offers non-credit lecture classes in both reading and writing at the college preparatory level. Class enrollment is based on availability. Guided independent learning opportunities are also available through computer-assisted instruction in our learning center. Students currently pay a non-refundable Resource Fee of $70 per term to participate in the BSD program. For information on BSD classes, call 503.399.5224.

Students will be recommended to the BSD program if their test scores on either reading or writing fall bellow the current college cutoff for beginning college level courses. Students must meet the minimum COMPASS/ASSET test score requirements established by the BSD program.

Program Mission-to provide academic preparation opportunities for high school graduates whose COMPASS/ASSET test scores are below the college cutoff for entry level courses in either Reading or Writing.
