Provides individualized instruction for the beginner in the design and construction of two moderately challenging stained glass windows made of both smooth clear and textured colored glass. Introduces techniques in designing, pattern making, glass cutting, assembling, soldering, and puttying using both lead cane and copper foil. Students produce original designs based on sources selected by the student. ART115 and ART116 recommended.

ART245 Intermediate Stained Glass

Provides individualized instruction for the intermediate level student. Students consult with the instructor and complete projects that are original, challenging and complex. Students will learn glass techniques such as sandblasting, fusing, and slumping.

ART248B Kiln Cast Glass—Intermediate

Exposes students to the fundamentals necessary to problem solve advanced casting projects. Presents multiple mold making processes for reproduction and for high temperature casting. Includes glass testing, sculpting in a variety of materials, cold-working, fi ring, and taking safety precautions. Also covers the exploration of the historical and contemporary development of cast art glass. Uses assignments to develop more advanced glass casting skills.
