How to enroll in ABE/GED Classes
Prior to attending orientation and class registration, all new students 18 and older* must complete assessments in reading, writing and math for placement purposes. Assessment takes from 2 to 3 hours and is given in Building 22, room 115, on the Salem campus. During the Winter 2008 term, assessments will be given every Monday at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. students arriving late cannot be tested and will need to return on the next testing date. Once you have completed your assessment, you will be given an appointment card with the dates and time of your orientation and class registration.
A one-time-only Testing/Application fee of $10.00 is charged to all new applicants seeking to join the ABE/GED BSD programs.
The class fee for attending ABE/GED classes is $35 per term and is payable when you register for classes the last day of orientation.
You must have a permit to park in the campus parking lots. Please be sure to obtain a temporary permit from the Information Booth (Building 12) in front of the campus or the Public Safety Office (Building 2) before you attend placement testing or orientation. Once you enroll in classes, if you wish to park in the campus lots, you will be required to purchase a Chemeketa parking permit. The fee for parking permits is $10 per term, or $25 for an annual permit valid for an academic year. Additional permits are available for $5 per vehicle. Parking fees are non-refundable.
