Classes & Hours
Our Adult Basic Education (ABE)/General Educational Development (GED) program assists adults in improving their basic skills in several areas, including mathematics, reading, writing, basic computer literacy and learning strategies classes. More information is available under how to enroll.
The Salem Lancaster campus offers pre-GED and GED classes, including:

Structured Writing
Although most students enrolled in the program are preparing for the GED exams, many are enrolled to enhance basic and pre-employment skills. Our program also offers a Spanish/English GED preparation class, a class for teens and a class for improving basic skills.
Located in Building 22, the ABE/GED Program-Salem Campus is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who are interested in getting a GED or who want to improve basic skills.
Class Days, Hours, & Locations
Salem Lancaster Campus Winter Term 2007
Day Classes: 8:30 a.m. until 2:20 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The computer lab is open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:20 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Evening Classes: 5 to 7:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The computer lab is open from 5:00 p.m. until 7:50 p.m. on Mondays,Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

ABE/GED Instruction in the Salem Community
Chemeketa offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Educational Development (GED) classes at the Southeast Salem Neighborhood Community Center (SESNA), located at 410 19th Street, SE in Salem. Basic instruction in reading, writing, math and computer literacy as well as GED instruction in Language Arts (writing and reading), science, social studies and math is available. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. Orientation for new students is held every other Tuesday at 9:30am. Students should enter through the alley door at the Capital Park Wesleyan Church. If you have any questions, please contact Tom McCaffrey at 503.399.7185 extension 325.
Referral, Assessment, and Orientation process for new students at SESNA:
1. New students, and those whose last CASAS test was over 9 months ago, must take the CASAS 130 initial assessments on campus in building 22 room 115 on Mondays at 8:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.
2. A $15 fee will be payable to Chemeketa Commuity College at the time of assessment. For information about how a sponsor pays the fee, contact Grant Matthews at 503.589.7715 or gmatthew@chemeketa.edu
3. Students and persons making referrals then call Tom McCaffrey at 503.399.7185 ext 325 to make an appointment for orientation.
4. Orientations are scheduled for spring term on April 8, April 22, April 29, and May 13. It is a 3-day mandatory orientation.
