The Exquisite Still Life Lisa Caballero, Dan P. Carr, Bobbie Jansen and John Van Dreal. Lisa Caballero’s oil paintings capture the things we eat now, like cupcakes and donuts, with a mastery reminiscent of Velasquez. Dan P. Carr’s careful observation of color enlivens his small-scale, single-object paintings and his blog entries about them. Bobbie Jansen paints startling narrative juxtapositions of objects with a fluid handling of light, color and form in the tradition of Manet. Stylistically influenced by Nothern European masters, John Van Dreal brings iconography, symbolism–and sometimes a figure–to his rendered, still life paintings. |
A Potter Collects: Selections from Burke Kleiber’s Private Collection Is it surprising that a potter loves pottery? This collection, amassed over twenty years, includes beautiful examples of form, function and flair. Each reflects the admiration of one artist for the work of others in his field. These pieces adorn Burke Kleibers home, but also provide inspiration for his craft.
Holiday Art Sale: Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff A two-day sale of art from pots to paintings to photographs. The proceeds from this special sale fund Chemeketa Student Art Scholarships. Winter Term 2008A Personal Mythos: Vicki Lynne Wilson Dream imagery and invented metaphorical histories are abundant in Vicki Lynne Wilson’s sculptural installations.
