The Arts

Chemeketa offers many opportunities to showcase local, national, and international talents. Artists from every field--from writing to photography to theater--come to the campus to provide an enriching element to arts classes and campus life. Our primary art showcases are our new auditorium in Building 6 and the Art Gallery. For a tour of some of the art on campus visit our Artwalk.

The auditorium provides a setting for all types of interactive or performing arts. If you're interested in acting, you may be involved in one of Chemeketa's drama productions at the theater. You may want to attend one of the many presentations or lectures by authors, poets, journalists, or a drama troupe. For music lovers, the Auditorium Concert Series features nationally and internationally renowned musicians.

If you are a film buff then Wednesday evenings are for you. We offer the Wednesday Evening Film Series, which covers retrospective and art films, and an International Film series. These two series alternate every other week. You can also take Film Studies classes at Chemeketa.

The Gallery is a significant part of the art instruction curriculum, as it provides examples to students, staff, and the community of quality works of art from regional and nationally recognized artists. Whenever possible, an opening presentation is scheduled so that you may visit with the exhibiting artist and hear about his/her ideas and techniques through discussion and/or a slide presentation.
