Chemeketa Community College prepares for large crowds during early registration
Salem, Ore. August 6, 2009
Dreaming about back to school supplies? How about securing your seat in class? Chemeketa Community College is easing the transition between summer break and fall registration with an “Early Bird Special” for new Chemeketa students.
Early Bird registration for classes will begin at 9 am August 11, 2009 at the Salem campus. Four additional vehicle entrances have been identified to ease traffic flow and additional staff support will direct crowds and students to advising centers.
“Get here early,” says Denise Galey, first year experience coordinator. “We feel Early Bird advising and registration is imperative for students securing the best selection of classes.”
This is the second annual early registration and advising process at Chemeketa. Last year the college had over 600 students and visitors attend. According to Galey the college anticipates even larger crowds. Extra staffing and increased awareness is essential this year because of ongoing construction at the main campus entrance.
