Art Gallery: Our Foremothers. Jane Lieber Mays and Deanne Beausoleil have been asking each other the question: "What legacies have women artists left for us?" The result is their collaboration Our Foremothers. Jane, an instructor of drawing and a portrait painter has completed 25 paintings of women artists from history. These are accompanied by narratives written by Deanne Beausoleil, instructor of art history. The combination of painting, research, and writing creates a compelling study and tribute to the contributions of women to our society. Events include an evening opening from 4 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, 18 February and a lecture on Wednesday, 24 February by Deanne. Bldg. 3, Art Gallery.
Lunar New Year Celebration. 3 - 5 pm. Multicultural Center. Free. Many Asian cultures celebrate the Lunar New Year, and many students who are part of the International Programs would like to share their cultural celebration with Chemeketa Students and staff. Come welcome in the "Year of the Tiger" with us.

Our Hospitality (Buster Keaton, USA, 1923). Set in the Old South of 1831, Our Hospitality evokes an early American period rarely depicted on screen. Buster travels by a primitive railway to claim an inheritance from relatives who are in a long-standing feud with another family. A woman from this rival clan catches Buster's eye. 74 minutes. How Chemeketa Builds Its Budget Brown Bag Educational Series: Focus on Other Funds Part 2: What is the purpose of the fund and primary sources of revenue and costs? A general overview of the regional library fund, auxiliary enterprise fund, intra-college services fund, student government fund, athletics fund, external organization billing fund, financial aid fund. Intercultural Movie Night: District 9. District 9 is a refugee camp for aliens who crash landed on earth.The story tells of their struggle to survive in a hostile human enviroment where they are not wanted. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Movie starts promptly at 7 pm. Multicultural Center. Free.
League of Women Voters Forum: Proposed Marion County Home Rule Charter (Ballot Measure 24-292). Hear the views of proponents and opponents of Ballot Measure 24-292. Paul Diller, local government law profesor at Willamette University, will give an overview of how county governments are set up. Speaking in support will be Bob Cannon former Marion County Counsel, a local government lawyer for 30 years and currently represents Ward 7 on Salem City Council. Speaking in opposition will be Sam Brentano, Marion County Commissioner and former mayor of Sublimity. Moderator will be Sandra Gangle. Planetarium: Islands In the Sky. Early Polynesians started colonizing Pacific islands 20,000 years ago using the stars in a way unlike Europeans. They travelled from island to island in small boats. All shows include an introduction to the seasonal constellations. Tickets may be purchased at the door at 7:15 pm. Building 2, Room 171. Admission: $4 Adults, $3 Chemeketa Students & Children.

Man Hunt (Fritz Lang, USA, 1941). A big-game hunter, British adventurer Alan Thorndike, hides in the Bavarian woods and captures Hitler in the crosshairs of his riflescope, just for "sport." The SS capture Thorndike, but the "game" Thorndike started isn't over. Fritz Lang experienced the Nazi menace first-hand, and fled Germany. Made before America declared war, Man Hunt is a noir thriller, an allegory of pre-War German-British political cat-and-mouse, and a moral argument for American involvement. 102 minutes. Thunder City (Philip Cuomo). Thunder City is a place where nature and technology grapple for the human spirit, inspiring heroism and exposing evil. Actors, designers and crafters work in a collaborative process to create a theatrical event inspired by Frank Miller, Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Marvel and DC Comics. 7:30 pm.
