Advising Sessions for New Students

New student advising can help you plan and register for classes, understand your placement test scores, access student services and learn more about attending Chemeketa.

Academic advising is a required process until successful completion of 30 transfer level classes (classes numbered 100 or higher) for all degree or certificate seeking students. During the New Student Advising Session you will meet with an advisor who will assign you the the appropriate advisor based on your goal at Chemeketa. Your assigned advisor could be a Professional Advisor (if your goal is to transfer) or a Career Counselor (if you are undecided on a major). If you are interested in one of our career-technical degrees or certificates (e.g., Administrative Office Professional or Automotive Technology, etc.) you will be assigned a Faculty Advisor who is teaching in that program and is an industry expert.
