What are the TRiO Programs?

The TRiO Programs Department consists of three federally-funded grant programs. The programs in the department include the pre-college programs of TRiO Talent Search and TRiO Upward Bound, and TRiO for college students who are low-income, first-generation or have a documented disability. What is TRiO?

TRiO is an educational opportunity for low-income, first generation, and disabled students. TRiO was established with the passage of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The goal of TRiO is to assist students to overcome financial, class, social and cultural barriers to higher education. Once in college, TRiO assists them so that they can earn a college degree.
