Chemeketa Community College is one of seven community colleges belonging to the Oregon International Education Consortium (OIEC) which sponsors the fall quarter Florence program. the OIEC consists of Chemeketa, Central Oregon, Clackamas, Mount Hood, Portland, Linn-Benton, and Rogue Community Colleges. The Consortium offers study programs in four countries ranging from two weeks to a full quarter.
Deadline for Florence Applications: June 8th, 2012
The Program
Florence, in the heart of Tuscany, offers an unparalleled opportunity to students of art, history and literature to explore a wealth of museums, churches and culture in this most walkable of cities.
The OIEC accepts up to 30 students from member colleges in Oregon. Space, therefore, is limited to qualified students. Applications must be completed, include the required deposit, and be submitted by the due date in order to be considered. American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), our partner institution, makes all logistical arrangements, including travel, insurance, and housing. All program payments are paid to AIFS. The OIEC makes all academic arrangements, which include course offerings and instructors.

Financial Assistance
Gilman International Scholarship Program
Any student who is currently receiving a Pell Grant is eligible for up to $5,000. The average award is about $3,500. Award amounts are based on the amount the student needs and where their application ranked among those selected. Panelists do not see the financial need information for an applicant. Need is considered once a student is selected for the scholarship, as all eligible applicants are receiving Pell Grants and considered to be in high financial need. Once a student is selected for the Gilman Scholarship, the program determines the student’s unmet need. This is determined by subtracting any financial aid (excluding loans) the student can apply towards the study abroad program from the program cost. The second factor in determining the amount of a student’s award is where the student ranked in the list of selected applicants. An applicant’s ranking, based on the application, is assigned by the selection panel.
