Study Abroad
Studying abroad promotes cross-cultural understanding, broadens your global perspective, and prepares you for your future. We offer full terms of study abroad opportunities with instructors from Oregon colleges. Our study abroad program is offered in conjunction with the Oregon International Education Consortium of seven community colleges (OIEC) and the American Institute for Foreign Study(AIFS).
The Oregon International Education Consortium consists of Chemeketa, Central Oregon, Clackamas, Mount Hood, Portland, Linn-Benton, and Rogue Community Colleges, offering programs in four countries ranging from 2 to 11 weeks.

Gilman International Scholarship Program
Receive up to $5,000 to apply toward study abroad program costs, including program fees, tuition, room and board, airfare, books and local transportation. Must meet eligibility requirements.
Institute of International Education (IIE) Resources
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is working in partnership with U.S. colleges and universities to increase the number and diversity of american students who go abroad and to encourage study in places of growing strategic importance to the United States. The grants and Scholarships that IIE administers for the U.S. Government and private sector sponsors help make valuable study abroad information available for major scholarship and fellowship programs.
Winter Term 2012 (Spring Break)
If you are interested in International Studies, Community Development or International Health, this is the class for you! Students will study the themes of international development in 6 Saturday classes in winter term. Then they will travel to Nicaragua to work with community health NGO AMOS Health and Hope during spring break week. Students will participate in grass roots community work and gain understanding of international development work.
Summer Term 2012
Study Spanish during a two-week homestay and earn 4 transfer credits; then earn another 4 credits in two weeks of field biology, at mountainous Ecolodge San Luis, at La Selva in the lowland tropical forest, and at Cabo Blanco on the Pacific coast. Havana, Cuba
July 31 through August 9, 2012. This is not just an ordinary tour! It is a combination Educational Tour and Community Service Opportunity in Havana, Cuba. A group of approximately 26 people will be travelling to Cuba to learn about the history, culture and the people of Cuba. The participants will be involved in two community service projects while in Cuba. Application deadline for Summer 2012 is May 29, 2012.
Fall Term 2012
Enjoy a European experience in the heart of a Renaissance city while pursuing your community college education in art history, world literature, film, sociology and women's studies. Application deadline for Fall 2012 is June 8, 2012.
Spring Term 2013
Study in the exciting and beautiful British capital, rich in art, music, theater and history. Chemeketa Community College, a member of the International Education Consortium, offers a 10-week program with tours, culture class, and several academic courses in drama as literature, theater, economics, and comparative politics.
