Chemeketa Language and Culture Institute provides English instruction for international students who want to:
- Prepare for study in an American college or university
- Experience American culture
- Improve English for personal or professional reasons
- Transition into college-level courses without taking the TOEFL
- Pay less for English preparation than at other institutions (average cost for full-time study for one term is only $2,528)
You can take English classes at six levels from beginning to advanced. You will be in classes with 18-25 language learners from many different countries. Instructors are experienced teachers with Master’s Degrees.
When you are in the advanced level, you may take college credit courses along with your English courses. After you successfully complete the advanced level, you can enter the college full-time without a TOEFL score.
When you complete the advanced level, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Class content includes conversation, American culture, pronunciation, writing, grammar, reading, vocabulary, academic research, and Internet projects. You can take advanced English classes for college credit.
Courses last for 11 weeks and terms begin in Fall (late September), in Winter (January) and in Spring (end of March/early April). Summer term lasts 8 weeks and begins the third week of June.
In addition to the cost for tuition, there are other costs such as books, health insurance, food, housing, and transportation.
