Assistance Types

Active duty military, Veterans, active and former members of the National Guard, Air National Guard and Selected Reserve and their eligible family members may be entitled to various educational benefit programs offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Eligibility criteria, benefit amounts and the amount of time an eligible individual has to use these benefits vary by benefit type (chapter). These benefits include:

  1. Montgomery GI Bill/Active Duty (Chapter 30)
  2. Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
  3. Montgomery GI Bill/Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606)
  4. Reserve Education Assistance Program (Chapter 1607)
  5. Dependent's Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 35)
  6. Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (Chapter 31)
  7. GySgt John David Fry Scholarship
