Tuition Waivers for Disabled Oregon Veterans & Dependents of Oregon Fallen Service Personnel
In recognition of the service and sacrifices of military service veterans and their families, Chemeketa provides the following tuition waivers –
Disabled Oregon Veterans
Tuition waiver application
The college shall waive tuition (not covered by any other agency or government sponsored program) of veterans who are identified as totally & permanently disabled (100 percent) as a result of military service and who are residents of Oregon at the time of application for the waiver.
The purpose of this waiver is to allow an Oregon veteran the opportunity to earn his or her first associate's degree. Therefore, the waiver is offered for up to two years of full-time attendance or a degree (which ever comes first). The waiver does not cover books, fees or other expenses.
Adequate documentation must be attached to the application and should include the following:
- Proof of the Veteran’s military service (DD Form 214)
- Documentation of the Veteran’s service connected disability rating as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
You only need to submit a waiver for your first term. The college will track registration and waive tuition during subsequent terms.
Since your financial aid award may be reduced by the use of this waiver, your initial request must be submitted to the Chemeketa Veterans’ Services Office no later than the week prior to each term's start date..
You must maintain satisfactory academic progress to continue to receive this tuition waiver.
Oregon Dependents of Fallen or Disabled Service Personnel
Tuition waiver application
The College shall waive tuition of the Oregon dependents (spouse, un-remarried surviving spouse, and children) of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States who:
- Died while on active duty, or
- Dies as a result of a military service-connected disability, or
- Is identified as totally & permanently disabled (100%) as a result of a military service-connected disability as certified by the Department of Veterans Affairs or any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States.
A dependent child must be 23 years of age or younger at the time the child applies for the waiver.
The purpose of this waiver is to allow the Oregon dependents of fallen service members the opportunity to earn their first associate's degree. Therefore, the waiver is offered for up to two years of full-time attendance or a degree (which ever comes first). The waiver does not cover books, fees or other expenses.
Adequate documentation must be attached to the application and should include the following:
- Veteran’s certificate of death (if applicable)
- Documentation of the Veteran’s military service (DD Form 214)
- Proof of the applicant’s dependant status (DD Form 93, marriage or birth certificate)
- Documentation of the Veteran’s service connected disability rating as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
You only need to submit a waiver for your first term. The college will track registration and waive tuition during subsequent terms.
