Previous College Credit & Military Experience

Credit Earned at Other Colleges

    The VA requires all credit you have earned at other colleges to be evaluated against the requirements of the degree or certificate you intend to pursue at Chemeketa, regardless of the number of classes taken at those schools or whether you received GI Bill benefits to take those courses. This requirement includes an evaluation of your official military training transcript (see below).  VA regulations allow you to receive educational benefits for a maximum of three terms unless all official transcripts have been received and your prior credit evaluation has been completed.

It is your responsibility to complete a Request for Evaluation and Transfer of Previous Credit, identify which degree or program you are pursuing and request official transcripts from all previous colleges attended.

Official transcripts may either be sent directly to the Admissions Office or you may hand-carry them to Admissions in sealed envelopes from the issuing institution. When the prior credit evaluation is complete, the Admissions Office will send an email to your student email account providing information on how you may access and review the evaluation as well as how you may contact the Transcript Evaluation office with any questions you may have.

Due to the large number of transcripts evaluated each term, it can take up to 20 weeks for a prior credit evaluation to be completed once all transcripts have been received by Chemeketa admissions.  We urge you to order you official transcripts as soon as possible after applying for admission to Chemeketa.

Credit for Military Experience

Student's using their GI Bill benefits must also have their military training evaluated for college credit, regardless of their branch of service.

U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard official transcripts are ordered through the Joint Service Transcript (JST) system.  U.S. Air Force (CCAF) transcripts may be ordered from the Community College of the Air Force. Air Force transcripts can be sent directly to your home address or directly to Chemeketa at the address below.  Transcripts sent directly to you may only be accepted with the seal intact (unopened).
