Please join us for the 20th Annual Rick Adelman Golf Classic. The date is Monday, August 3 at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem. Title sponsor this year is Salem’s Mountain West Investment Corporation. Registration information is all here online for your convenience.
Now more than ever, your support is needed and appreciated. By participating in the Adelman Golf Classic, you help fund scholarships for student athletes in the coming year. Today’s economy and our state’s budget crisis make us work harder and smarter to benefit students. This year’s tournament will forego some of the gifts and amenities for players so we can raise more funds for scholarships. I hope you can appreciate the few changes we make. Reaching the 20th anniversary has special meaning for Rick and his family, and you will enjoy his company and comments. We also promise the challenge and friendship of summer golf on a superb course, and a delicious luncheon to follow.
Coach Adelman has been very loyal to Chemeketa over the years. We congratulate him on his success in coaching and thank him for his steadfast support of Chemeketa athletics. Over the past two years Rick has strengthened his career and status in the National Basketball Association as head coach of the Houston Rockets. I’m sure you will enjoy hearing from him during our awards luncheon as he offers his usual candid remarks about the NBA and its most colorful players.
All at Chemeketa are very proud to consider him as one of our own. Rick enjoyed several years of success as head coach of the men’s basketball team at Chemeketa. The Chemeketa Storm always work hard for Coach David Abderhalden, and Adelman scholarship winners play a big role in their success. Rick’s youngest son David played on the team last year and will return again in the fall. I applaud Rick for his many successes as husband, father, athlete, teacher and coach, and thank him for his long support of Chemeketa Community College and its students.
