How can I establish a Foundation scholarship?
The Chemeketa Community College Foundation believes it can help students in many ways. One way to transform lives is through scholarships. You can help these Chemeketa students one student at a time by establishing a scholarship fund. The fund may be named in memory of a loved one or for students in a particular program at the college.
General Scholarships - This fund consists of the many scholarship funds that are already established. Gifts to those funds are always welcome and help keep education accessible. A listing of these funds are available on our scholarship home page.
Annual Named Scholarships - Annual Named Scholarships are established with a gift of $10,000 with one gift or by giving a minimum of $2,000 per year for 5 years. No awards will be made until fund reaches $10,000.
Endowed Scholarships - A scholarship endowment is permanent and participates in the Foundation's investment program. The earnings from the fund are used to support a scholarship, but the principal of the fund remains untouched. The endowment fund thus provides a scholarship support for students in perpetuity. Endowments can be created with either a gift of $25,000 or by giving a minimum of $5,000 per year for 5 years.
Scholarship Criteria - Donors to endowed scholarships or annual named scholarships may stipulate criteria for selecting recipients with such determinates as financial need, academic excellence, enrollment in a specific program, or residency. The criteria should be flexible and general to guarantee the widest possible pool of applicants.
