Students wishing to apply must download and fill out the Florence application form (PDF).
The Oregon International Education Consortium consists of Chemeketa, Central Oregon, Clackamas, Mount Hood, Portland, Linn-Benton, and Rogue Community Colleges. The Consortium offers study programs in four countries ranging from two weeks to a full quarter.
The Program
The fall term Florence, Italy program offers an unparalleled opportunity to study art, history, psychology, and literature in the heart of Tuscany with Oregon community college faculty. (Meet with your campus advisor on qualifications.) You will also explore a wealth of museums, and churches and enjoy weekly programs of cultural activities that may include day trips, theater visits, walking tours, wine tasting, cooking classes, sporting events, and language exchanges.
The OIEC accepts up to 30 students from member colleges in Oregon. Space, therefore, is limited to qualified students. Applications must be completed, include the required deposit, and be submitted by the due date in order to be considered. American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), our partner institution, makes all logistical arrangements, including travel, insurance, and housing. All program payments are paid to AIFS. The OIEC makes all academic arrangements, which include course offerings and instructors.
Courses and Expenses
Chemeketa study abroad students register as usual, but select courses from a designated available course list. Tuition, fees, and book costs are in addition to the program fee, and are paid directly to Chemeketa Community College. Students earn transferable credits while studying in Florence. You will need to enroll for a minimum of 12 creduts as a full-time student to attend this program. To see instructor bios and course list click here.
