Study Abroad
Studying abroad promotes cross-cultural understanding, broadens your global perspective, and prepares you for your future. We offer full terms of study abroad opportunities with instructors from Oregon colleges. Our study abroad program is offered in conjunction with the Oregon International Education Consortium of seven community colleges (OIEC) and the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS).
The Oregon International Education Consortium consists of Central Oregon Community College, Chemeketa CC, Clackamas CC, Mount Hood CC, Portland CC, Linn-Benton CC, and Rogue CC, offering programs in four countries ranging from 2 to 11 weeks. Gilman International Scholarship Program
Up to $5,000 is available to students who are currently receiving a Pell Grant for their education at Chemeketa Community College. Application deadline for the
Fall 2008 program in Florence is April 15, with notification in mid-June.
Spring Term 2008
Paris, France
Beginning in Spring 2008, Chemeketa Community College, as a member of the Oregon International Education Consortium, will begin a 10-week program in Paris,
France. Application deadline extended to January 9, 2008.
Summer Term 2008
Four Weeks in Costa Rica
Study Spanish at your proficiency level during a two-week homestay and earn 4 transfer credits; then earn another 4 credits in
two weeks of field biology, BI200 Principles of Ecology, at mountainous Ecolodge San Luis, at La Selva in the lowland tropical forests, and at Cabo Blanco
on the Pacific coast.
Two Weeks in Mexico
Four credits of immersion Spanish study at your proficiency level in the charming highland capital city of Guanajuato.
Fall Term 2008
Florence, Italy
Enjoy a European experience in the heart of a Renaissance city while pursuing your community college education. You enroll for 12
credits of transferable and degree-related courses such as history, writing, theater or
geography using the vast resources of two of Europe's oldest cities.
When not in class, you can spend your time taking in the local flavor
and enjoying the rich history of these cities and their home countries.
