February 17, 18, 23, and 24, 2016 - Oregon Promise Info/Help sessions
Yamhill Valley Campus will be hosting info/help sessions for graduating high school seniors and their families to drop in and get more information about Oregon Promise and help with the application. These sessions will all be in building 1/ room 202 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. The dates are Wednesday, February 17, Thursday, February 18, Tuesday, February 23 and Wednesday, February 24. Feb. 16-Feb 18, Random Acts of Kindness Week! National Random Acts of Kindness Day is February 17, 2016! To celebrate, YVC student leaders are making a week event of it! Come participate in different fun rejuvenating activities between 11am and 1:30pm in room 101! Yoga, prayer flag making, love rocks, a color-in, and more! Participate on social media platforms to win prizes!

Inclusive Space in Room 108! YVC Student Leaders expressed an interest in creating a safe and inclusive space on campus for people with all identities – racial, ethnic, gender, veteran, cultural, spiritual, and more! On February 22nd, we will host a grand opening of the Inclusive Space in room 108! Come celebrate all identities at YVC and connect with your fellow students and staff in a more personal way.

Feb. 29, 12-4pm, Winter Term Swap, Don’t Shop Event! Join the YVC student leaders in a free, fun, sustainable event! Renew your wardrobe, find gifts for your loved ones, enjoy refreshments and enjoy refreshments! How it works: Bring your gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, household items, toys, etc.* and place the sorted items in the barrel in the building 1 lobby. If you don’t have any clothes or items to swap, bring canned goods to contribute to our YVC food pantry, and then start swapping! *All leftover items will be donated to a local charity.

OSAC Scholarship is due March 1!
Early Bird deadline: February 15! The Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) is offering their annual scholarship application for students in the 2016-17 school year! Apply now for over 500 scholarships at http://www.oregonstudentaid.gov! Deadline is March 1! Contact your academic advisor at Yamhill Valley if you have questions!
If you are graduating from an Oregon high school or completing your GED in April or later you could be eligible for Oregon Promise! Application deadline is 5:00PM PST March 1, 2016
To be eligible for Oregon Promise, a student must:
Receive an Oregon high school diploma or GED® in Spring/Summer 2016
Have been an Oregon resident for at least 12 months prior to community college enrollment (U.S. citizenship / permanent residency is NOT required)
Enroll in community college within 6 months of completing high school or GED®
Have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or better
Accept all state and federal grants awarded
Highlights of Oregon Promise:
There is a $50 per term copay
Eligible full-time, full-year students will receive at least $1,000 annually.
All state and federal grants, such as Federal Pell Grant and Oregon Opportunity Grants, will be applied first toward tuition. Once all state and federal grants are applied, the Oregon Promise funds will be used to offset remaining tuition costs.
If all tuition costs are covered by other state or federal grants, a student may receive $1,000 to use toward room and board, transportation, or books.
Awards will be pro-rated for students attending less than full-time (12 credit hours per term)
