Chemeketa Part-time Education Association (CPEA)
CPEA is your union. According to the contract between Chemeketa and CPEA, CPEA is the "exclusive representative of the part-time instructional staff, consisting of all counselors, librarians, cooperative work experience assistants, instructors in credit classes and instructors in noncredit programs of Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, High School Completion, and General Educational Development, who are employed part-time by Chemeketa Community College and are not members of any other recognized bargaining unit at the College."
Some of the benefits that have been negotiated for you by CPEA are professional development monies, sick and emergency leave with pay, tuition waivers, compensation for required meetings, additional pay for course development, and 45 hours of free Internet access a month.
Both Active members and Fair Share members pay the same dues, and both are covered under the same contract with the College. However, Active members receive additional benefits which include:

Liability protection through Oregon Education Association

Up to $1,000 in life insurance

Accidental death and dismemberment benefits - Must sign up through OEA

Right to vote and hold office in CPEA
- Access to OEA attorneys for job related issues
To become an active CPEA member you will need to sign a membership form available in the CPEA office, Bldg 3/261A - Salem campus.
