GED Options

Earn your your GED (General Equivalency Diploma), and free college credits, through Chemeketa Community College

Why a GED from Chemeketa?

When you enroll in our GED/High School Options program you will attend classes regularly and have multiple scheduling options.Chemeketa's GED programs include the possibility to earn your high school diploma with individualized pacing in a college environment that will result in better job opportunities when you enter the workforce. You will work closely with faculty and staff to build your skills in preparation for the GED exams and future possibilities.

Upon completion of your GED through Chemeketa, you will also earn free college credits you can use to further your education.

  • GED AGES 16-21

    In Chemeketa's youth GED program, you get to choose your schedule. Classes are offered -

    • Monday-Thursday, 9:20 am-2 pm
    • Monday-Thursday, 2:30-4:30 pm

    To get started, visit the High School Partnerships office at Salem Campus, Bldg. 50, Rm. 102, and pick up an application for sponsorship. After returning the completed application with an updated high school transcript, you'll attend a pre-testing session and orientation to prepare you for starting classes.

    Youth GED classes are offered at no cost for tuition, books or testing.


  • GED AGES 18+

    If you are 18 or older, Chemeketa offers you the chance to earn your GED by completing college courses.

    To get started, apply to Chemeketa and take your college placement test. Bring you test scores and most recent high school transcript to the High School Partnerships office at Salem Campus, Bldg. 50, Rm. 102, and make an appointment with a coordinator to evaluate your transcript.

    The adult GED Program offers you:

    • Open enrollment - start at any time
    • Morning and evening classes for flexible adult schedules
    • One-on-one tutoring
    • 24/7 access to an online academic skill builder
    • In-class use of GED textbooks
    • Official practice tests
    • GED Honors Diploma to those scoring a test score average of 650 and above
    • Graduation with cap and gown.

    Adult GED classes are $70 per term.


    If you would like information on taking the GED test, please call 503.399.6556. The GED testing fee is $152 for all four subjects or $38 per individual subject.
