Motorcycle Safety Training

Learn how to stay safer riding your motorcycle with our safety courses provided in cooperation with Team Oregon.

Chemeketa motorcycle courses are offered in cooperation with Team Oregon, a nationally recognized leader in motorcycle rider safety and skills training. Team Oregon offers something for riders of every level, ability and experience that will help you ride safer, smarter and more skillfully. 

Basic Course

eRider Basic is an endorsement course for novice riders with four to six hours of online classroom instruction and eight hours of range (on-cycle) instruction. The course takes place over two days and builds fundamental street-riding skills and strategies.

Practice riding starts with basic skills, such as getting underway, turning, shifting and stopping, then moves on to the more advanced street skills of emergency braking, cornering and swerving. Riding gear is required for all riding activities.

This course meets Oregon’s mandatory training requirements for all new riders. Driver and Motor Vehicles (DMV) waives the state on-cycle skill test for riders who successfully complete the course.  

Intermediate Course

eRider Intermediate is a half-day endorsement course for riders who already know how to get underway, turn, shift and stop a motorcycle. The course builds fundamental street-riding skills and strategies. 

Range (on-cycle) instruction includes low-speed balance and control, emergency braking, countersteering, cornering and swerving. Riding gear is required for all range activities.

This course meets Oregon’s mandatory training requirements for riders age 21 or older. Driver and Motor Vehicles (DMV) waives the state on-cycle skill test for riders who successfully complete the course.

Advanced Course

The Team Oregon suite of advanced courses will help you tune up, smooth over, sort out, dial in and nail down your riding skills.

Rider Skills Practice (RSP) is for endorsed riders who want to raise their skills to a higher level, focusing on techniques for cornering, emergency braking and collision avoidance. Tuition is $99. The course lasts 4.5 hours.
