Income Tax Classes
Planning to become a licensed tax preparer? You'll first need to complete an 80-hour course approved by the Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners. You can receive your education with on-campus, in-class instruction or through the convenience of an online course.

Each class provides you with four college-transfer credit hours. These credits can be used toward CPA certification as well as for the tax preparer certification. The focus is learning to prepare individual and small business income taxes returns.
Prerequisites for Income Tax 1 and Income Tax 2 can be waived for students with extensive business or tax office experience. Information regarding courses, prerequisites, and enrollment can be viewed on the Business Administration course description page. Prerequisite classes are Financial Accounting 1 and 2, BA211 and BA212.
To Participate
You must have access to the Internet, e-mail, and Microsoft Excel. Classes consist of instructor's web pages, an active discussion board, homework assignments, and online quizzes. All have been specifically designed to help you prepare and practice for the state examination.
- Cost - $232 tuition, plus $24 (On-Campus Courses) -$74 (On-line Courses) fees – per class
- Books - approximately $130 (same book is used for both classes)
- Schedule - flexible but due dates for assignments are enforced
- Exams – Testing throughout the course with an additional Final Exam for each course.
