Phil joined Chemeketa in 1998 as a Full Time Instructor in the AgriBusiness Management Program. He holds Master's of Science degrees in Economics and Agricultural Economics and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Farm Business Management. His Masters degree minor was marketing and his Master's Thesis was on the New Mexico Wine Industry. His passion for agriculture began on his family's farm in the 1960's. Phil has experience in viticulture, nursery shade house and stock plants, orchard crops and livestock.
Phil brings over 40 years of agricultural business management, agricultural banking, real estate sales, and education to the Program.
Phil teaches Business Management in the Vineyard and Winery Industry, Business Management in Horticulture and several courses in AgriBusiness Management. He specializes in Record Keeping, QuickBooks Accounting Software, MS Excel, and Spreadsheet Applications in Agriculture. He lectures on Business Plans development, Goal Setting, Time Management in Agricultural Business, Banking Etiquette, Leadership and Motivation, Succession related courses and efficiency/productivity topics including discussions on Kaizen, Sigma Six and Lean as they relate to agriculture. Other topics taught have included Management Styles, Conflict Resolutions, Team Development, Diversity, and Employee Relations including Employment Posting requirements, Wage Laws, Payroll Taxes/Issues, and Safety.
Phil currently serves on the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee and is the past Public Member of the Oregon Raspberry and Blackberry Commission and Hawaii Nursery Association. He is the Past President of the Hilo Rotary Club in Hilo, Hawaii, Past Chairman of the Puna Soil and Water Conservation District and Past Vice President of the Federal Land Bank Association of Hawaii.

David joined Chemeketa in 2001 and holds a Master's Degree in Economics and Agricultural Economics from New Mexico State University. Dave brings a substantial amount of business experience to Chemeketa. He spent many years as a business management consultant; assisting agricultural and commercial business owners with: accounting needs, technology training, preparing budgets and cash-flows, business analysis and trends, succession plans, business plans, labor management, and other business needs.
Prior to coming to Chemeketa Dave taught a variety of business, economic, and computer courses at New Mexico State University, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, College of Southern Idaho, and other institutions. He is proficient in business software applications including QuickBooks, Quicken, Excel, and Access.
Dave was raised on a family farm in Southern Idaho; for five years co-owned the farm with his father and brother. Dave has a lifelong interest with entrepreneurship and the application of successful business management principles.
