A Potter Collects: Selections from Burke Kleiber’s Private Collection

Is it surprising that a potter loves pottery?This collection, amassed over twenty years, reflects the admiration of one artist for the work of others in his field. These pieces adorn Burke's home, but also provide inspiration for his craft.

Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6.

A two-day sale of art from pots to paintings to photographs. The proceeds from this special sale fund Chemeketa Student Art Scholarships. On Friday, this sale is paired with the Athletics Department Holiday Craft Fair. Experience both.

A Personal Mythos: Vicki Lynne Wilson

Dream imagery and invented metaphorical histories are abundant in Vicki Lynne Wilson’s sculptural installations. She considers how her art impacts the planet when she chooses materials. Troublesome, second hand, non bio-degradables are an inherent part of her work.

Spring Term 2009

The Science of Art

How have scientific advances influenced art throughout Western History? Artists of yesterday and today have continually brought tools of science and math into the studio to further their creative practices. This participatory exhibit showcases some of these these tools and “miracles.” Look at a Claude Glass. Experience a camera obscura. And more.

 

2009 Student Art Show
Wednesday, May 27-Friday, June 5
Reception: Wednesday, May 27, noon-2

Juried by artists from the community, this exhibit features the best of student art. Look for examples from the myriad of classes offered at Chemeketa: design, painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, sculpture and glass. Anyone who has taken a credit art class at Chemeketa in the past two years is eligible to enter up to two pieces for the jurying process. Awars include the Preseident's Purchase Award, the People's Choice Award and over $300 in other prizes.
