The glass studios and facilities for these classes insure that students have an experience with glass that is both inspirational and useful. The glass studio and kiln room is in Building 5, Room 100 with an indoor coldworking room just across the hall.

Glass Fusing and Slumping

Explore this exciting art glass technique. In the beginning class, learn glass cutting, studio safety and how to successfully fire glass in an electric kiln. Discover fusing with layers and inclusions such as frits, powders and copper foil. Work with dichroic and iridized glass. Learn to create and avoid bubbles. Plan a multiple fire project. Explore the science of glass and beginning aspects of slumping. In the advanced classes, continue to build skills through independently driven projects, pushing beyond previous work. Use influences and resources to develop a concept into a work of art that reflects a personal vision.
