The Chemeketa Foundation grants scholarships from $150-$1000 to students who are enrolled in art classes at Chemeketa. The Art Program Scholarship is described below. The Art Program Scholarship

The Art Program Scholarship was created by The Art Program. Awardees can apply scholarships directly to supplies purchased at the bookstore or for tuition and fees for credit art classes. The scholarship is granted to continuing art students based on merit. Scholarships are awarded in winter for use Spring term. These scholarships are made possible through the sale of student, alumni, faculty and staff artwork at the Holiday Art Sale.   • Award Amount: Three, $200 awards for the 2009-2010 academic year (contact The Art Program Chair for current scholarship amounts)
  • Available Awards: varies
  • Specific Course of Study: credit classes in The Art Program
  • Required Academic Standing:
  • Enrollment Status: full or part-time students who have taken 6 credits in art in the previous year with intention to continue.
  • Financial Constraints: none
  • Other Criteria: quality of artwork
  • Additional Application Requirements: submit a portfolio of work, see 2 below
  • Eligible Expenses: tuition and fees for credit art classes and/or art supplies from the bookstore.

To apply:

  1. Fill out The Chemeketa Foundation Scholarship Application during the open period, in October-November. Be sure to indicate that you are an art student by filling out the supplemental checklist! Check their website for deadlines. http://www.chemeketa.edu/foundation/scholarships/index.html

  2. Qualified students will be asked to submit a portfolio for review by the Art Scholarship Committee (as determined by The Art Program).

    Portfolio requirements:
    5- 10 actual pieces of art such as drawings, ceramics, sculpture, paintings, photography, glass, or computer generated illustrations (clearly labeled with artist’s name and title of work)
    OR
    Accurate reproductions in slides (clearly labeled with artist’s name, and title of work)
    OR
    Accurate reproductions on a CD (jpgs, @ 6 X 8 inches, 300 dpi, all file names to include artists name and title of work).
    AND
    A slide sheet listing titles, media, dimensions, and date of completion of all submitted work.
    Note: Presentation matters. Suitably protect your work and present it with an eye toward quality of display.

  3. Students will be notified of the decision by the end of winter term.
