Student Gathering - Fall 2007!
Thank-you everyone for your support and participation in the Student Gathering for fall 2007! It was great seeing the everyone get excited about the program and the services Chemeketa has to offer. That, we believe, is because of each persons willingness to go that extra step to help the program and those in it succeed.
Students were asked to rate, from one to five with five being the highest:
- Overall Presentation
- Usefulness of information presented
- Planning/organizing
- Handouts and materials
- Room location/meeting environment
- Likelihood of attending the student gathering winter term
The responses were overwhelming! Ratings were very high in all categories. The lowest average score was 4.5 in the event of persons attending the winter term gathering, mainly because they were graduating fall term or they were not in the program.
In addition, attendees were asked:
- What would you like to see included at future student gatherings?
- If you are graduating this academic year, are you interested in participating in CWE, Job Placement, and Reverse Job Fair activities spring term?
Of those planning on graduating either spring term or next year, students expressed a huge desire to take CWE, make use of Job Placement and participate in the Reverse Job Fair spring term. From the feedback form, students also stated that they wanted to talk to more graduates and employers at future student gatherings.
The results reaffirmed the programs belief as to how important these student gatherings are for the students. Students appreciated having Sarah McGovern, 2006 BT Graduate, relate her work experiences. They also enjoyed Rebecca Salinas-Oliveros and Janet Sipe’s skit demonstrating the difference between a job fair and a reverse job fair, and knowing (thanks to Cleo Alvarez) that the Counseling center offers more services than just entry-level student advising. Some attendees reported they would like to have more graduates as well as employers come to the Student Gathering. We will need to talk about what we would like to add, remove or do differently for the winter gathering.
Thanks once more for participation!
