CWE
Student Information
Cooperative Work Experience should be an very important part of your college plan at Chemeketa. It adds meaning and context to the classroom instruction and lab exercises required in your program of study. Rather than just learning about a procedure or technique, you are actually doing it in a real life situation where the results count more than just a grade on an assignment.
The hands-on training and understanding of employer expectations gained through CWE is a valuable asset for building your resume and portfolio. You will also gain confidence in your ability to perform within your field of expertise. Employers look for students with relevant career experience in addition to a college degree.
The old adage, "It's not what you know, it's who you know" and Disney's version "It's who knows you" are still very important in the job search process. This is especially true for those new to a career field. Cooperative Work Experience gets you out of the classroom and into the circle of professionals that might eventually hire you. Networking with supervisors and coworkers could lead to that all-important first job after college.
The links on this page will help you get started in a Cooperative Work Experience.
