Surveying
Civil Technology
Streets, utilities, and public transportation systems form the framework of our modern landscape. The Civil Technology program prepares students for careers designing and managing systems in this field. Students can earn either a one-year Survey Technology Certificate or a two-year Associates Degree in Civil Technology.
The one-year certificate prepares students to work on a survey crew, or in an entry-level drafting position. Coursework includes hands-on surveying, basic computer assisted drafting (CAD), math, communications and workplace psychology.
Graduates of the two-year program may assist in the planning, design and construction of roadway, bridge, utility, and site development projects. Employers include government agencies, civil engineering firms, land surveyors, contractors and utility companies. In addition to courses taken to earn the one-year certificate, students are introduced to street and basic utility design, advanced survey operations, and basic applied engineering.
