Engineering

Engineers play an essential role in the technical building blocks of society. Huge earthmovers, super computers, space probes, lifesaving medical equipment, super efficient power plants, or a modern freeway; engineers are involved in design, construction and operation of new developments and technologies.  Engineers are indispensable in almost every area of society.

Chemeketa offers programs that closely follow the first two years of study at many public and private universities. In most cases, students are able to complete the first two years of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering at Chemeketa before transferring to a university for completion.

Oregon State University offers bachelor’s degrees in Biological, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, Environmental, Industrial and Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Nuclear Engineering, as well as Construction Engineering Management and Engineering Physics. Portland State University offers degrees in Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering.

Students planning to earn a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering are encouraged to consult with an engineering advisor at the university of their choice.

Drafting Technology - CAD

Where blueprints come from and ideas become reality

Before any design idea can become reality it must first be translated into a complete set of working drawings that will be used in construction or manufacturing projects. Exciting advances in green technology, sustainable design and infrastructure development projects will all require the services of a design team. Drafters are valued team members, working closely with architects and engineers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Others work with builders and homeowners as custom house designers.

Students will learn a variety of the latest 2D and 3D software as they draw buildings, bridges, roadways and mechanical parts. Many design projects are carried across several courses to help students put together basic concepts into integrated, complex design solutions required in real-world projects.

Either a one year certificate or a two-year Associates Degree is available.

Please contact Mike Kelly, Drafting Instructor for more information.
