Fire Protection

International Fire Service Accreditation Seal Chemeketa Community College offers two separate degrees in Fire Protection:

Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection - Suppression PDF document
You will gain experience -- while still a student --- as you work a 24-hour duty shift each week. Fire Suppression students respond to actual emergency incidents under the supervision of fire department officers.

Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection - Prevention PDF document
When you graduate with a degree in Fire Prevention, you will be prepared for a career with a public fire department or industrial business as a prevention specialist.

Both options include training and education for those wanting to enter these exciting fields and for those already employed who need additional training.

We also offer a one-year certificate in Fire Officer Supervision & Management PDF document to help you prepare for that promotion to a fire officer, or if you're already an officer, you can gain valuable new skills.

Distant learning courses are available for fire service professionals, active in the field, who need to earn college credits or update their training. Distant education may include earning college credits for prior learning, such as local training and work experience; transfer credits from local schools and independent study courses. For more information about distant education, call 503.399.6242.
