EMT courses offered at Chemeketa follow the Department of Transportation guidelines. EMT is considered an open-entry program and requires successful completion of the consecutive two-term format. Successful completion qualifies you to take the State of Oregon and/or National Registry examination(s) for licensure as an EMT. This program is known statewide for excellent pass rates.
Oregon Intermediate EMT
Successful completion qualifies you to take the State of Oregon examination for licensure as an Oregon EMT Intermediate.
If you are interested in pursuing the Paramedic Degree, you must have already completed your EMT Certification. In Chemeketa's nationally accredited program, you will take general education courses as well as technical courses devoted to emergency medical technology. Clinical rotations in hospitals and with ambulance services provide hands-on experience. Successful completion earns an AAS degree in Emergency Medical Technology, qualifies you to take the National Registry examinations for certification and to be licensed in the state of Oregon as a paramedic.
