Advising

While Chemeketa doesn't offer a degree in English, most transfer degrees require Humanities credits. The transfer process can be frustrating and confusing and we're here to make it easier for you. Faculty members can help you decipher the transfer requirements as well as discuss which courses you would find interesting and engaging. We can also help prepare students who plan to be English majors at four year institutions by getting them the basic requirements they'll need to be able to jump into junior, 300-level courses. Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree:
A minimum of 8 credits in WR 121, 122, and 123 or 227.
A minimum of 12 credits, from two disciplines, and ALL courses with the ENG prefix are eligible:
WR 241, 242, 243, 244, 245 and 262 are also possibilities.

Associate of Science Oregon Transfer Degree in Business:
A minimum of 8 credits in WR 121, 122, 227.
A minimum of 12 credits, from two disciplines, and ALL courses with the ENG prefix are eligible:
WR 123, 241, 242, 243, 245, and 262 are also possibilities.

Associate of Applied Science Degree:
A minimum of 3 credits in either WR 115, 121, COM051 or a higher writing course.
A minimum of 3 credit hours are also possible with all courses with the ENG prefix.

Associate of General Studies Degree:
A minimum of 6 credits: WR 121 is required plus either 122, 123, 227, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, or 262.
A minimum of 9 credits in Arts and Letters for which all ENG courses are possibilities.

I want to transfer to.....
Transferring to a four-year institution is the goal for many community college students. Generally, the AAOT degree is sufficient in terms of credits and requirements, but in order to be sure you have all the necessary requirements, consult with Chemeketa's Counseling and Career Services or a Chemeketa advisor. Also, you should make early contact with an advisor at the institution to which you plan to transfer to learn of any possible changes in an academic area.

Oregon's state universities offering Bachelor of Arts and/or Bachelor of Science degrees in English are Eastern Oregon University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Southern Oregon University, University of Oregon, and Western Oregon University.
