English for Speakers of Other Languages

How to Enroll

The English for Speakers of Other Languages/English as a Non-Native Language program offers both credit and non-credit structured classes in reading, writing, listening, and speaking taught in English at five specific levels. Entry placement is determined by testing. If you are a new student, you may apply by testing in the ESOL Office located in Building 22, Room 100. Testing is every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Testing may take up to four hours and is split between two days. A one-time-only Testing/Application fee of $15.00 is charged to all new applicants seeking to join the ESOL program.

After you have completed testing, you will be assigned an ESOL level. New students will be contacted to join the ESOL program as space is available at their level.

You must pay a resource fee for the classes you take based on the number of hours per week the classes meet. The resource fee is paid every term (approximately every 11 weeks). Costs for non-credit ESOL classes are as follows: (books are extra)

0 - 6 Classroom Hours Per Week: $50
7 - 12 Classroom Hours Per Week: $75
13+ Classroom Hours Per Week: $85
