The 14th annual Moonlight & Roses will be held Saturday, October
21, 2006.
Many of our students have a lot more to worry about than grades.
Finding good childcare is a concern for them, but not being able
to afford it can actually end their dreams of an education. Moonlight
and Roses raises money for the Chemeketa Community
College Foundation's Childcare Scholarship Program and the LaVerne
C. Smith Memorial Scholarship fund for single parents. These scholarships
allow our students to continue their education, knowing that their
children are cared for.
Childcare scholarships often make a life-changing difference
for recipients. Crystal Reese, a beneficiary of such a scholarship,
has this to say to the generous donors that make the program possible:
"This
scholarship is allowing me to get a college education and realize
my dream of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. But most important,
because of you, I am passing your gift of love to my son ...
as his mother being able to show him how to totally give of yourself
so that someone else can thrive ..."
This year's event promises
to benefit our students even more. Those attending will have an
opportunity to enjoy some of the finest cuisine the Northwest has
to offer and bid on an amazing array of auction items.
For more information about this event, or to get tickets, you
may call the Foundation office.
