- After completion of the program what are the job opportunities?
There are currently approximately 50 outpatient dialysis facilities in Oregon. Most dialysis units are open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday. Daytime and evening shifts are usual and customary and a few facilities offer dialysis during night time hours.
- Upon completion of the program will I be able to work as a PCT outside Oregon?
With national certification, hemodialysis technician positions are available throughout the United States. Each state may have specific licensure procedures that the graduate would need to satisfy.
- 3. Can a hemodialysis technician continue into nursing education?
The hemodialysis technician program is designed as a health career pathway program with some courses that apply to prerequisites for nursing. Frequently employers of hemodialysis technicians offer tuition and/or reimbursement for their employees who are pursuing nursing degrees.
