HST299D Legacy of the British Empire
Follows a chronological path through looking at major themes related to the British Empire. Covers how the British Empire developed and defined their imperial mission and settlement of imperial areas. Examines the events surrounding imperial decline, decolonization, and the consequences of colonial policies in areas of the world such as Palestine and India, and the post-colonial legacy that continue to shape these former imperial possessions. Also focuses on the ways in which communities from the British Empire have integrated within the multicultural British society, particularly in terms of language, religion, and trans-cultural identity.
