 HS 101 Addiction,  Pharmacology & Physiology (CRN 31477) (34380)

This hybrid course explains how alcohol and other drugs are processed in the body and the brain.  Information is included on the physiological effects of alcohol and other drugs on the human body and the possible implications for treatment and prevention of problems that arise from their use.   Instructor:  Wanda Urban  

CRN 31477 will be offered on Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30 - 5:20 PM

CRN 34380 will be offered on Monday & Wednesday from 12:00 - 1:50 PM

HS 206 The Addicted Criminal(CRN 38350)

This course focuses on clients who are chemically dependent / convicted criminals; recognizing, confronting, and "surviving" the addicted criminal.  The course prerequisite is completion of HS 101, Addiction, Pharmacology & Physiology with a "C" or better or comparable training in the addiction disease concept.  Instructor:  Darcy Edwards. 

The class will be offered on Monday evenings from 5:30 - 8:30.

HS 207 Adult Children of Alcoholics (CRN 31494)

This course explores the relationship between growing up in a chemically dependent or dysfunctional family & ensuing problems in adulthood.  Family dynamics, denial, relationships, work, social skills and feelings will be discussed. Instructor:  Donna Hirt

This class will be offered on Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th.

HS 211 HIV, TB & Infectious Diseases (CRN 32712)

This course explores the relationship between alcohol and other drug abuse and infectious diseases.  It will offer counseling techniques for assisting client to personalize their risks and practice harm reduction.
Instructor:  Marilyn Cady

This class will be offered on Tuesday, October 27th and Thursday, October 29 from 4:30 - 8:30 P.M.

HS 215 Conflict Resolution (CRN 35524)

This course explores the sources and dynamics of conflict in interpersonal, family, and work settings.  Participants will develop an awareness of their own style in conflict situations and learn effective strategies for resolving conflict.  Instructor:  Tom Stern

This class will be offered on Mondays from 2:30 - 4:30 P.M.
